A concert performance of this beautiful chamber opera with music by Nigel Osborne and libretto by the eminent Bosnian poet Goran Simic   www.goransimic.com will be hosted by the Organisation for Co-operation and Security in Europe (OSCE) at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria in December 2010.

BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Opera Circus is currently developing projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina with its partners Musicians without Borders BiH and the British Council through its Creative Collaborations Partnership scheme.

These projects include help to develop the Children’s Music Theatre in Srebrenica, a MwB/Music Bus project, and collaboration with the Summer Music Camps led by Nigel Osborne and the University of Edinburgh with the support of the Foundation and Land for Peace at Rakovica near Sarajevo.

CULTURAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Opera Circus is developing a long term partnership project to provide a platform for cultural partners to share and develop cultural leadership skills in the region.  The first event under the auspices of the British Council in BiH and Network Social Fund is to be led by Dr. Milena Dragicevic Sesic from the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. This will take place in Srebrenica in early 2010 and will be a three day residency with the support of the Dom Kulture in the town.

A local food arts and educational project in Bridport, West Dorset in collaboration with the Sir John Colfox School, co-produced by Anna Ledgard and Tina Ellen Lee of Opera Circus

LUNCH  (September 2010  October 2011) is a year-long project which will create a performance event, LUNCH, on a Bridport street in Autumn 2011 based on growing, harvesting, cooking and celebrating local food. All aspects of the  meal will have been created with young people facilitated by teachers, members of the community, artists and growers and will involve music, dance and performance. The  project is being researched and developed.

MUSIC AND CHILDREN IN GAZA

An exploratory project aimed at developing further the use of music and the creative arts with children in Gaza.  A collaborative project led by Nigel Osborne and the University of Edinburgh, building on his work with Sheena Boyle and the Children of Amal in Palestine.  Discussions have taken place with Edinburgh Direct Aid and Muslim Aid connected to the work of the Trauma Centre in Gaza.  Opera Circus have raised a small amount of funding to cover the costs of a first trip to Gaza which will take place in Spring 2010.
